Spring is hopefully coming around the corner. It peeked out, ran back, summer stepped out in front of it, then winter squashed both of them and froze my poor little buds coming out from sleep. But fingers crossed, spring is coming! And I don’t know about you, but I get busier outside and have less time to cook. That is a big reason why this recipe I’m sharing is so wonderful. It has all the flavors of satisfaction I’ve had a great meal, and none of the labor that tastes like it should’ve gone along with it. I discovered it by accident and for years now it’s a go-to when time is not on my side. It’s actually Hunt’s (yes, Hunt’s ketchup) One-Skillet Italian Sausage Pasta. And once you’ve made it and eaten it, I think it will be a go-to for you
Ingredients
- 3/4 pound Italian pork sausage
- 1-1/4 cups water
- 1 can (14.5 oz each) Hunt’s® Diced Tomatoes with Basil, Garlic and Oregano, undrained
- 1 cup Hunt’s® Tomato Sauce
- 8 ounces dry penne pasta, uncooked
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Directions
-
Step one
Heat large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage; cook 5 minutes, breaking apart with spoon to crumble. Drain; return to skillet.
-
Step two
Add water, undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce and pasta to skillet; stir to combine. Bring to a boil. Cover; reduce heat and cook 15 minutes or until pasta is tender.
-
Step three
Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Serve with additional Parmesan cheese, if desired.
Thirty minutes and you’re done! It’s amazing. No pasta to boil…you just throw them right in the skillet and, trust me, they soften. But please stir it occasionally so you don’t get some that are chewy. Pair it with a nice salad and you’ve got yourself a plan! With lots of time to go outside and get everything planted or watered.
In book news, I am steadily writing each day. I have a new release planned for fall. I’m so excited. Books make me happy! I hope they do you, too. 🙂
